What is Early Decision (ED)?
Early deicision is a binding application, which means that when students submit their application, they are making a commitment to attend the university if admitted. You should ONLY submit an Early Decision application if you are certain you will enroll in that school regardless of any factors, including the amount of financial aid you receive.
What is Early Action (EA)?
Early action is non-binding, meaning students DO NOT commit to attend if accepted. The main benefit of Early Action compared to the regular decision is that students will often be automatically considered for scholarships and the honors college without having to submit a separate application.
Our College & Career Advisers will also be happy to assist you with any questions you may have! Their office is located inside the Media Center.

Instructions for ordering transcripts through Parchment
Midtown HS Parchment Link for Ordering Transcripts (you might be charged if you don't use this link)
STUDENTS APPLYING TO UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES SHOULD LIST THE SCHOOLS THEY WANT TO DIRECTLY SEND THEIR TRANSCRIPTS TO AS THE RECIPIENTS WHEN PLACING ORDERS.
If students send their transcripts to themselves and forward them to colleges, they WILL NOT be accepted as there is risk of tampering. Please allow at least 1 week for processing before following up with your assigned counselor.
Graduating Seniors and Alumni
As of June 1 of their graduating year, students will no longer be able to utilize Midtown's Parchment service. All former graduates must request their transcripts from the Atlanta Public School's Records Center.
They are located at 130 Trinity Ave SW, Atlanta, GA 30303 or you can place your order and request online at: https://apsga.scriborder.com/
Their contact number is 404.802.2150.
What is an education record?
All Midtown HS counselors are required to report ALL educational records when requested by any postsecondary institution.
Education records are records that are directly related to a student and that are maintained by an educational agency or institution or a party acting for or on behalf of the agency or institution. These records include but are not limited to grades, transcripts, class lists, student course schedules, health records (at the K-12 level), student financial information (at the postsecondary level), and student discipline files. The information may be recorded in any way, including, but not limited to, handwriting, pint, computer media, videotape, audiotape, film, microfilm, microfiche, and e-mail.
What is the class rank?
Per the Atlanta Public Schools policy, "class rankings shall be generated based on the weighted numeric grade-point averages for students in the graduating class based on grades earned by the end of the first semester of the senior year."
Class rank is listed on the transcripts for all students and the notation below is on every transcript to remind all parties that nothing is final until the semester one grade posting:
*Class rank shown on the transcrript is calculated using numeric grades. Valedictorian and salutatorian are determined using class rank following the posting of senior year semester 1 / quarter 2 grades.
- Most colleges will want either a recommendation letter, also known as school report, from your counselor. This allows them to understand how a student performs in the context of their school.
To get one, please email a resume or brag sheet to your counselor AT LEAST 2 FULL WEEKS BEFORE YOUR DEADLINES - Counselor Contact Information
If it seems that it is taking a long time, please understand that often times, counselors will have deadlines that may differ from that of students. Midtown's counselors are dedicated to assisting our students, thank you for your patience and understanding!
